4 Non Blondes 的一首 What\'s up?4 Non Blondes成立于1989年，美国的San Francisco市，当时Christa Hillhouse（贝司手）和Shaunna Hall（吉他手）同为室友，他们当时和Wanda Day（鼓手）想组一个临时性的乐队，但缺一个主唱，Christa在一个名为Nightbreak的俱乐部的舞台上发现了Linda Perry，他立刻被Linda那充满力量和梦幻般的嗓音迷住了，于是他邀请Linda担当他们乐队的主唱，Linda当时并未当回事，直到她亲眼看到了他们三位的现场演出后，才决定加入乐队，这支乐队的首场演出是在1989年10月17日Nightbreak俱乐部里一个每周固定节目“Female Trouble”里，这个节目推出的乐队都是以女性为核心的乐队，如：She Devils, Spokepoker, Stone Fox, Mermaid Tattoo, Lovedog……这些乐队都很不错，音乐也很猛烈。这个俱乐部也是整个SF市最好的，里面都是有着摇滚激情的人。4NB在这里度过愉快的时期，并开始在城市里寻找其他的演出机会。
4NB的早期音乐风格基本上都是狂躁的punk乐，Wanda击打出硬核朋克的鼓声，Linda爆炸般的嗓音，Christa的贝司始终来回于硬核和疯克之间，而Shaunna的3和弦吉他技术构筑了整个4NB早期的主要音乐风格，随着乐队演出机会的增加，他们拿苍嚼丛较炝痢５嬷吹呐酪苍嚼丛蕉啵侄铀坪跻酶蟮脑胍羧サ挚挂恍┐潭男晟投褚獾内佟！霸诘笔保⒉皇怯邢衷谡饷炊嗟呐曰钤驹谝」鑫杼ㄉ希虼宋颐鞘艿搅诵矶嗥渌侄踊蚓憷植坷锏母骼嗳说鹊某靶头泶獭Ｕ獯偈刮颐歉Φ赝度氲揭衾种校颐敲恐芏加心敲此摹⑽逄烀刻熘馗刺?、4个小时的音乐，当某人想说些屁话来讥笑我们时，我们就会在舞台上愉快地用音乐去还击他。我已经弹了15年琴了，所以我们乐队里每一个人都对自己的音乐技术和水平充满了自信。”
在早期的乐队词曲创作中，几乎都是由Shaunna Hall一人包办，也许只有乐队创作的第一首歌“Whole lotta love”例外。但在不久后，Linda开始成为乐队词曲创作的核心，Wanda和Christa一般喜欢在排练前弹弹groove来热身。有时他们这些即兴弹奏的片段就成了乐队的歌曲。然后由Linda配好词，如歌曲“Old Mr Heffer”“No place like home”就是这样创作出来的。Linda有时也和Shaunna共同创作一些歌曲，但通常她喜欢独自一人冥思苦想。每当创作出一些新的音乐作品时，他们都会把它立刻放在晚上的演出里。但有时4NB会很玩笑地把刚学会的一首歌加入到演出节目中，由于此时4NB乐队并不能*俱乐部演出来维持生活，他们四人白天都需要工作，而Linda是乐队里第一个辞退餐馆的女招待工作而专心投入到音乐中来的，因为她对每日清晨萦绕在耳边的铃声和嘈杂的工作厌倦透了。不久，Charista也辞去了他的固定工作，他已经在白日会计师夜里音乐家的角色变换中持续了十年了。四人陆续都辞去自己的工作，开始从当初业余心态去玩音乐中转变为以此为职业的专业态度。但他们的音乐之旅并不顺利，录制的小样并未得到唱片公司的垂青，在经济上陷入了窘迫之境，他们不久就负债累累，这几乎也是许多摇滚乐队成立之初的惯例。
《Bigger,Better,Faster,More！》（1992）
这张专辑是4NB的第一张专辑，也他们的最后一张专辑，每次听到这张专辑，就象一个正处在颠峰期的体育明星突然宣布退役一样，给人留下了他美的回忆，这张专辑是*“What\'s Up”而走红的，而这首歌也比较完美地体现了Linda峰回路转的嗓音，但这类歌曲在这张专辑里是屡见不鲜，如"Train" "Calling all the people"等，而整个乐队的音乐风格也比较古怪（感觉上象是FUNK与R&B的综合），非常适合Linda那独特的嗓音，如果摇滚是蕴涵激情的音乐，那Linda的嗓音就应该是能呼唤出激情的魔音宝盒。
