对这个自97年跃入乐坛就一路唱出多白金佳绩、赢得一大群死心塌地歌迷拥护的4人美声团而言,谦逊的用心态度果真让他们在流行乐界炙手可热。98度有一个简单天真的成功哲学：不屈不挠、努力、坚持信念就能达成心愿!之所以取名98度,是因为它代表人体的正常温度(华氏温度),另一方面他们也希望自己的歌能够受到大家的欢迎。 一直渴望以往被优美和声掩盖的创作才华也能获得认同。现在这些年轻人的愿望真的实现了。 或许有人会认为98°不过是男孩团体中另一个侥幸一夜成名的例子，不过我们就来看看，这四个大男孩是怎么样坚持他们的梦想一路走来！创始团员Jeff Timmons来自俄亥俄州，只身一人为个人歌唱生涯移居洛杉矶。在计划组团的过程中，先找到了于辛辛那提学院结识的Nick和Justin Jeffre，之后原在纽约担任紧急医疗技师的Drew Lachey迁居西岸，98°才宣告成立。 在成名以前，他们不断寻找各种试音机会、参加新秀选拔赛，同时为了维持生计还在庭园设计公司工作及在夜总会担任警卫。终于有一次，他们获Boyz II Men经纪人Paris D\'Jon的肯定并安排参与R & B歌手Montell Jordan的巡回演出，开始引起观众注意。 获得Motown唱片公司的赏识之后，在1997年发行首张同名专辑，首支单曲“Invisible Man”吸引各地歌迷注意，他们的足迹也踏遍了加拿大、德国、荷兰、英国、香港、印尼、马来西亚、新加坡、泰国等地。1999年发行的《98° And Rising》专辑，收录了与Steve Wonder合唱的电影《花木兰》（《Mulan》）主题曲“True To Your Heart”，加上三首全美Top 5单曲“Because Of You”、“The Hardest Thing”、“I Do (Cherish You)”（电影《Notting Hill》主题曲），为这张专辑奠定骄傲的成绩；今年初春的Heat It Up全美巡回公演更造成一票难求的热烈响应，搭配Nickelodeon电视台的All That演唱则吸引了超过1万8千人次的观赏。
